Along with Bucks and Philadelphia Counties, Chester County was established by William Penn in 1682. Before that, Native Americans, Finns, Swedes, and English were living in the Delaware Valley. In 1893, the Chester County Historical Society was founded by local citizens. CCHS moved into historic Horticultural Hall in 1938, and added a wing for its growing museum collections. The museum collection today has over 80,000 artifacts. |
